Welcome to the Blog of Sound. Most likely, you’ve stumbled into this realm from either my Myspace page or from some other point in the great void we call the Internet. Either way, consider yourself welcome and an official part of the Blog of Sound.
This blog is exactly what it sounds like, it is a blog about music. The good. The bad. And the ugly. Naturally, we like to focus on the good, but unfortunately there is a lot of bad music out there and most of it finds its way into contemporary popular radio. Tsk, tsk. What a shame.
In every entry of the Blog Sound we’ll discuss artists worth taking a look at, artists who have reached their expiration date, bands that aren’t really anything special, music trends, and pretty much anything that has to do with music. Not every entry will feature all those topics. The next entry is a prime example. You’ll see discussion of some bands that are regional bands who I think are worth taking a listen to.
In the entries to come, I’m optimistic that other bloggers will join the Blog of Sound army to provide a more comprehensive look at today’s music climate. As new bloggers join the ranks, we’ll spend an entry introducing them. For now, I am the sole blogger and since you’ve no doubt struggled through a few paragraphs of explanation, I’ll give you a brief (very brief, I promise) profile of myself before moving on to more interesting and pressing topics.
My name is Laura, known to many in my regional area and several forums as Apethia82. I am a life-long music lover spanning the genres. I listen to everything from Billie Holiday to the Beatles to the Misfits to Van Halen to Slipknot to the Donnas and everything (well, nearly everything with the notable exceptions of rap and country) in between. Aside from that, I’ve been a musician for 20 years, playing guitar in a few local bands that have since split ways. More importantly, I’m the senior news editor for a chain of weekly newspapers in Connecticut. Perhaps these qualities don’t make me an expert in this chosen field, but I feel that I’m as qualified as the next guy.
But enough about me. Go ahead and check out the next entry. It’s the first “real” entry here at the Blog of Sound and I’m happy to put forth a few bands you may not have heard of but should definitely go check out.
Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the Blog of Sound.
